The Designer plays a central role in shaping and executing the visual expression of the brand across all channels. This position is responsible for both packaging updates and mechanical files, as well as creative development and delivery of design work from concept through final artwork delivery. You ensure that every asset is strategically aligned, on brand, and consistently elevates the company's creative standards. Working closely with brand marketing, product marketing, sales, and quality teams, the Designer translates strategic objectives into compelling, cohesive visual solutions that build brand equity and drive engagement.
THIS ROLE REQUIRED TO WORK ON-SITE IN OUR VIBRANT OAKLAND, CA OFFICE 3 DAYS A WEEK
- Work independently on packaging updates, mechanical files, and maintain version control, ensuring consistency across product lines. Liaise with production vendors who produce physical packaging. Problem‑solve on design solutions needed to comply with nutritional or legal regulations. Ideally have experience with the dual‑language Canadian market.
- Responsible for the preliminary review of proofs for accuracy.
- Work closely with Quality departments to ensure packaging and marketing materials are compliant with regulatory and certification standards.
- Attend press checks and color call‑outs for approval.
- Assist the team with product launch deadlines — specifically product labels, packaging, and marketing materials updates.
- Ensure packaging files are print‑ready, accurate, and aligned with brand standards while meeting regulatory requirements.
- Lead the conceptual development and design execution of campaign and brand assets, and marketing materials across digital and physical touchpoints.
- Translate briefs into visually compelling, on‑brand creative solutions that drive business and cultural impact.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, brand, and production teams to ensure all design output reflects the brand's tone, positioning, and creative direction.
- Maintain and evolve the brand's visual identity system, ensuring consistency and innovation across all applications.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing creative ambition with timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations.
- Stay informed on design trends, technology, and cultural movements to inspire fresh, relevant creative ideas.
- Support the ongoing development of internal creative processes, templates, and design standards to improve efficiency and quality.
- Bachelor's degree and/or minimum 6+ years of related experience or equivalent.
- Production design experience, comfortable creating print‑ready files.
- Packaging design experience within CPG.
- Strong conceptual design skills with the ability to take ideas from brief through execution.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional prioritizing and organizational skills.
- Highly detail‑oriented with the ability to work with tight deadlines.
- Experience working between many different departments.
- Comfortable with a day‑to‑day routine that varies frequently.
- Ability to multitask in a lively work environment.
- May sit or stand to complete work at a computer for many hours during the day.
- Heavy use of the computer.
- Utilize visual acuity to operate equipment, read technical information, and/or use a keyboard.
- Accurately complete detailed forms and reports.
