Designer and Project Assistant

Job Description

A Miami based custom furniture showroom is looking for an entry-level full-time Interior designer. The proper candidate will have at least one to two years-experience as a drafter with architectural, interior design or related major and background. We mostly deal with furniture drawings. It is also required to complete showroom office task like replying to attending client meetings, project coordination, emails, answering phone calls, scanning, filing, etc.

Job Responsibilities

• Draw rough and detailed drawing/plans of furniture for residential homes and commercial spaces, based on preliminary concepts, sketches, and hand-drafts
• Produce drawings to show space plans, elevations, furniture plans, millwork details, shop drawings
• Generate interior design & furniture related documents
• Revise plans as instructed and thoroughly coordinate all revisions
• Coordinate assignments and communications between design, and principal
• Communicate with designers and clients regarding plans
• Ensure established deadlines are met and send reminders when necessary
• Other assistant jobs in design department as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associates degree in Architecture, Interior Design or a related field
• One to three years of drafting experience;
• Proficiency in minimum 2-year AutoCAD experience
• Experience with PhotoShop is required.
• Capability to use Autodesk AutoCAD 2018/2019
• Knowledge of residential plans and construction drawings preferred
• Being flexible and work well under time constraints and pressure
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Service-oriented mindset with a team player attitude
• Friendly and positive
• Must be able to speak and write in English and Spanish
• Photography skills

Typical Skills

• A basic grasp of interior design drawings and principles
• Good communications and computer skills
• Ability to work as part of a team while also having plenty of your own initiative
• Problem solving and a desire to come up with practical solutions
• You will also use your skills to convert verbal and written information into two dimensional drawings and 3-D drawings which will then be used on site for fabrication
• Accuracy and attention to detail
