Job Summary:
The Designer & Sales Consultant is responsible for designing, selling, and promoting custom closet and storage solutions tailored to each client’s needs. This role combines creative design expertise with consultative sales skills to deliver functional, aesthetically pleasing storage systems while achieving sales goals and providing an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Consultation
- Meet with customers in the showroom and/or at their homes to assess storage needs, space dimensions, and lifestyle requirements
- Create customized closet and storage designs using approved design software and tools
- Recommend materials, finishes, accessories, and layouts that align with customer preferences and budget
- Prepare accurate measurements, drawings, and design proposals
Sales & Customer Service
- Present and explain design solutions clearly and confidently to customers
- Provide detailed pricing, quotations, and timelines
- Close sales and meet or exceed individual and team sales targets
- Maintain ongoing communication with customers throughout the design, order, and installation process
- Address customer questions, concerns, and post-sale issues professionally
Project Coordination
- Submit finalized designs and orders accurately to production and installation teams
- Coordinate with installers and internal departments to ensure smooth project execution
- Review completed installations to ensure customer satisfaction and quality standards
Showroom & Brand Support
- Maintain showroom displays and sample areas in a clean, professional manner
- Stay current on product offerings, design trends, and company standards
- Participate in training, promotions, and special sales events
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Sales, or a related field (preferred but not required)
- Previous experience in sales, design, retail, or customer-facing roles
- Experience with custom closets, cabinetry, kitchens, or home improvement is a strong plus
- Proficiency with design software (e.g., CAD, 3D design tools, or proprietary closet design systems)
- Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and customers simultaneously
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk in a showroom environment for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry samples or materials (up to 25–50 lbs as needed)
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and take accurate measurements in customer spaces
