Designer & Cost Estimator (Kitchens, Cabinets & Decor)

1. Design and Technical Drawing Responsibilities

* 3D Design and Rendering:

* Create professional, photorealistic 3D designs (Renderings) for custom kitchens, built-in wardrobes, and decorative units based on client specifications and site measurements.

* Utilize specialized design software (e.g., SketchUp, 3ds Max, or dedicated cabinet design software).

* AutoCAD Documentation:

* Prepare detailed construction and execution plans (Shop Drawings) using AutoCAD.

* Include all necessary engineering details for manufacturing and installation (e.g., piece dimensions, hardware locations, related electrical and plumbing provisions).

* Design Revisions: Review designs and implement necessary modifications based on client feedback or technical team requirements.

2. L Quantity Surveying and Material Specification Tasks

* Quantity Take-Off (QTO): Accurately extract and calculate all required raw material quantities from the approved designs.

* Wood: Calculate the surface area and volume of wood panels (MDF, solid wood, veneer) needed for kitchens and cabinets.

* Hardware: Specify the exact type and count of hinges, runners, handles, and internal storage systems.

* Decor/Finishing: Calculate quantities for other finishing materials such as paints, wallpapers, and gypsum (if applicable to the project scope).

* Cutting Lists: Prepare detailed cutting lists for the manufacturing workshop to ensure optimal material utilization and minimize waste.

3. Pricing and Cost Estimation Responsibilities

* Material Pricing: Price all calculated raw materials and hardware based on current supplier rates.

* Manufacturing Cost Calculation: Estimate the labor cost required to manufacture and install the kitchen and cabinet units.

* Quotation Preparation: Compile direct and indirect costs, apply the appropriate profit margin, and generate a detailed, itemized final quotation for the client.

* Cost Analysis: Analyze project costs and propose alternative materials or design modifications to meet the client's budget without compromising quality.

Required Qualifications and Experience

* Technical Experience: A minimum of 2 years of proven experience in designing and estimating costs specifically for kitchens and wooden cabinets.

* Essential Software Proficiency (Expert Level):

* AutoCAD: Mandatory for detailed execution plans.

* 3D Rendering Software: Such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, or equivalent, for realistic client presentations.

* Microsoft Excel: Crucial for accurate quantity surveying and complex pricing spreadsheets.

* Material Knowledge: Deep knowledge of various wood types, finishing materials (laminates, high gloss), and available kitchen and cabinet hardware in the market.

* Personal Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
