Job Summary:

The Designer Drafter is responsible for supporting product design and documentation efforts by creating and updating 2D drawings, 3D models, and engineering change documentation under the guidance of senior team members. This role works closely with engineers and manufacturing staff to ensure drafting accuracy and alignment with project requirements. The Designer Drafter position is intended as a developmental role, with exposure to industry standards and processes to support continued skill growth in mechanical design and drafting.

What you will do:

Support the development and revision of CAD models and engineering drawings using SolidWorks and other design tools.

Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), part detail drawings, and basic assembly layouts.

Follow ASME/ANSI drafting standards and incorporate Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) as trained.

Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings to gain exposure to the full product development cycle.

Collaborate with Senior Drafters, Designers, and Engineers to ensure designs meet functional and manufacturability requirements.

Assist in documentation and tracking of engineering changes.

Communicate with machine shop and assembly teams to clarify drawings and resolve minor design discrepancies.

Maintain organized drawing files and support the upkeep of CAD libraries.

Study and apply relevant drafting and aerospace design standards.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

What sets you apart:

Qualifications:

Associate degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Drafting, or Bachelor’s in a related technical field (e.g., Mechanical Engineering Technology).

1–3 years of experience in mechanical drafting, CAD modeling, or equivalent academic/project work.

Proficient in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or similar 3D CAD tools.

Basic understanding of dimensioning, tolerancing, and technical drawing practices.

Ability to interpret blueprints and technical documentation.

Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and team-oriented attitude.

Physical Requirements:

Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly in person, over the telephone, and on the production floor.

Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of manufactured parts and reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

Other: Requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted, including assisting co-workers when required. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some heavy lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular work shift.
