Gurnick Academy is a leading Bay Area private healthcare college offering an extensive variety of Nursing, Allied healthcare, and Imaging programs.
We are currently seeking a Desktop Support technician with handyman skills for our campus in Concord, CA. Occasional travel to other campuses may be required.

Hourly Pay Range: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour

Basic Function
The Desktop Support technician will be responsible for providing troubleshooting and technical assistance to support the Academy’s facility, faculty, staff, and students. Additional tasks include setting up new office equipment, cable management, AV equipment, assembling new office desks, and helping staff move to different offices.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist students, faculty, and staff with computers, software, and related equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance on computers, including cleaning keyboards and mice.
- Ability to track, document, and resolve support tickets/issues in a timely manner
- Maintain an inventory of equipment and supplies.
- Keep detailed records, such as software license logs.
- Track hardware and software issues, following up on reported problems as needed.
- Troubleshoot and repair issues with printers, networks, hardware, and software.
- Resolve WIFI connectivity issues.
- Handle issues with AV equipment.
- Regularly inspect classrooms to ensure AV systems are working properly.
Facilities & Hands-On Skills
- Help users with office moves and workstation relocations.
- Assemble new office furniture.
- Install TV and monitor mounting hardware in classrooms and labs.
- Comfortable working with tools, cabling, and physical installations
- Ability to identify and mitigate cable hazards and safety risks
- Perform any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge of the Following:
- Operations of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Principles of computer maintenance and preventative care.
- Computer terminology, procedures, hardware, and software.
- Detect and report hardware or software issues.
- Strong attention to detail in maintaining logs, records, and documentation.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow up on unresolved issues. - Prepare the computer for use.
- Assist employees and students with problems.
- Work independently with minimal guidance.
- Understanding of cable management best practices and workplace safety standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Read, interpret, and adhere to rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Handyman skills, including assembling new office furniture, mounting TVs and monitors, and running AV cables.
- Ability to bend, kneel, and work under desks or in tight spaces.
- Regularly lift up to 35 pounds.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma, Associated Degree preferred
- One year experience in a similar position is preferable
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
- Prior demonstrated experience with Google Suite
