Overview: The Development Assistant supports the Advancement Department by executing administrative, relational, and technology-driven responsibilities that further donor engagement and fundraising success. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive professional who can manage multiple priorities, follow through without prompting, and deliver excellence under tight timelines.
The ideal candidate thinks one step ahead, enjoys solving problems, and communicates with clarity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily workflow, calendars, print/mail projects, donor follow-ups, and event logistics.
- Track deadlines, anticipate needs, and ensure follow-through on assigned tasks.
- Maintain donor records, giving histories, and reporting accuracy within CRM/database systems.
- Monitor data integrity and assist with segmentation, exports, acknowledgements, and mailings.
- Represent the school’s mission and vision confidently in person, email, phone, and written communication.
- Assist in donor stewardship activities, including appreciation touchpoints, mailings, tours, and special events.
- Identify, evaluate, and apply for relevant grant opportunities.
- Support grant writing, submission, reporting, and compliance tracking processes.
- Utilize digital platforms to streamline processes such as email automation, donor ladders, workflow routing, and reporting.
- Assist with basic content creation for appeals, newsletters, landing pages, and online giving platforms.
- Assist with planning, execution, volunteer coordination, and follow-up for fundraising and recognition events including galas, donor breakfasts, and thank-you campaigns.

Job Requirements: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to track/close loops without reminders. Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a busy environment with frequent interruptions. High level of initiative and self-directed problem solving. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfort with database systems, spreadsheets, online applications, and cloud collaboration tools. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities. Professional presence, confidentiality, and an understanding of donor service.
