Position Summary
Temple Beth El of Northern Westchester seeks a highly organized, relationship-oriented, and proactive Development Assistant to serve as a key member of the synagogue’s growing development operation.
This position plays a central role in supporting and sustaining TBE’s philanthropic efforts, including the Annual Fund, donor stewardship, campaign activity, and leadership engagement. Serving as the local operational presence for the development office, the Development Assistant helps ensure timely follow-up, strong donor stewardship, and consistent operational support for TBE’s fundraising efforts.
Success in this role requires exceptional organizational skills, follow-through, discretion, warmth, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and care.
This is a local, part-time position requiring a hybrid schedule so that the person within the role has both an on-site presence and a remote connection whereby collaboration can occur seamlessly with the Development Director, clergy, staff, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
· Process donor acknowledgment
· Support timely and accurate donor communications
· Support stewardship mailings, recognition efforts, and donor outreach
· Help maintain a high-quality donor experience across all giving levels
· Assist with donor recognition processes including plaques, naming opportunities, and stewardship displays
· Support logistics for donor events, salons, receptions, and stewardship gatherings
· Assist with event preparation, RSVP tracking, and follow-up
· Maintain donor records and gift entry accuracy within the CRM/database
· Generate reports and donor lists as requested
· Ensure data integrity and organization across development systems
· Serve as an operational liaison between the Development Director, clergy, staff, and volunteers
· Maintain organized development files and records
· Coordinate operational support for fundraising campaigns and donor engagement activity
Qualifications
· 5+ years of fundraising experience required
· Experience with donor databases or CRM systems required Nonprofit, donor relations, or related administrative experience preferred
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Ability to share a case for support with a variety of constituencies
· Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
· Comfort handling confidential donor information with discretion
· Warm, professional, and highly responsive demeanor
Position Structure & Compensation
· Part-time, 20 hrs. per week
· Occasional evening or weekend support
· $30-35 per hour
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
