Development Assistant
Full-time (40 hours): Monday-Friday, first shift

Overview
The Development Assistant is responsible for administrative support of the Vice President and Chief Development Officer, and the Development team. Working independently with little supervision, the Development Assistant interacts with campaign volunteers and staff and is an important donor-facing member of the Development team.

What are the Job Responsibilities?
1. Provide general administrative support to VP and Development team, including scheduling, correspondence, file maintenance, and project support.
2. Act as a central communications coordinator between campaign leadership, campaign manager, VP, and campaign consultant.
3. Serve as the campaign’s first responder on all inquiries. With a stewardship mindset, triage questions to the appropriate staff, answer volunteer questions, and follow up as appropriate.
4. Organize, help create, and update presentations, materials, correspondence, and solicitation materials.
5. Support VP and Campaign Manager in planning for and follow-up from campaign meetings, including room set up, heavy calendar management to prioritize and schedule meetings, take minutes and distribute, and follow up on assignments made in meetings.
6. Generate, download, and update various spreadsheets.
7. Support VP, Campaign Manager, and fundraisers with fundraising support and activities including tracking donor relationship management. Run reports and communicate tasks that need to be completed. Monitor dashboards, enter contract reports.
8. Develop, implement, maintain, and manage Campaign systems and procedures.
9. Generate, download, maintain and update various tracking reports to ensure accurate and current information on gift and donor totals, solicitation status and prospects. Produce reports and lists.
10. Collaborate with Development Operations and Finance to ensure all campaign gifts and pledges are confirmed in writing, are accurately booked and appropriately coded, and that pledges are appropriately billed.
11. Ability to work a regular time schedule and have regular attendance at the workplace.
12. Practice agency policies and safety in the workplace.
13. Participate in all mandatory meetings and trainings.

Education and Experience

Communication Skills
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to prepare letters, database entries, reports, memos, correspondence, and documentation. Ability to effectively communicate with vendors, clients and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Skills and Abilities
Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a computer and the job related software, a keyboard, calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, postage machine, typewriter, shredder, etc.
