About Valley House Homeless Shelter

Valley House Homeless Shelter is community funded, non-profit homeless shelter whose mission is help motivated homeless people become self-sufficient. We are seeking a passionate and strategic Development Director to advance our mission through effective fundraising, community engagement, and brand strengthening.

Position Summary

The Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing all fundraising, marketing, and community engagement activities for Valley House. This role plays a key part in building relationships, increasing visibility, and securing financial support to sustain and grow our programs. The Development Director collaborates closely with the Executive Director, board members, donors, volunteers, and community partners.

Key Responsibilities

Fund Development & Strategy

· Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and execute an annual Fund Development Plan aligned with organizational goals.

· Develop and manage fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and community appeals.

· Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.

· Track fundraising progress and provide regular reports to leadership and the board.

Events & Community Engagement

· Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events, including signature events, community awareness activities, and third-party fundraisers.

· Represent Valley House at community events, networking functions, and partnership meetings.

· Coordinate and lead site tours for donors, partners, and community groups to build awareness and support.

Marketing & Communications

· Manage social media presence and engagement across platforms to promote programs, events, and community impact.

· Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and encourage public support.

· Create compelling content for newsletters, press releases, website updates, and promotional materials.

· Maintain consistent messaging that reflects the mission and values of Valley House.

Administration & Support

· Maintain accurate donor records and manage donor database systems.

· Work with staff and volunteers to support development initiatives.

· Ensure compliance with ethical fundraising standards and organizational policies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, marketing, public relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 3 years of experience in fundraising, development, marketing, or nonprofit leadership.

Effective communication, storytelling, and public speaking skills.

Experience managing social media platforms and digital marketing tools.

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to build relationships and engage diverse stakeholders.

Passion for the mission of Valley House and commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Benefits & Compensation

Salary Range: $50,000-$65,000 DOE

Benefits:

· Paid time off

· Health insurance (health, vision and dental) is 100% paid by employer after 60 days.
