Development Director

Primary Responsibilities

Research, meet with, develop, and maintain new and current corporate/foundation contacts and donors.
Work with the Executive Director and members of the Board of Directors on the Development Committee.
Consult with and advise Executive Management regarding donors and donations, potential gifts, website, social media, fundraising and awareness events, and other development opportunities.
Supervise and lead the development staff in all duties with regards to donors and donations, potential gifts, website, social media, fundraising and awareness events, and other development opportunities.
Write foundation, corporate, and other grants, as well as write and submit grant follow-up reports, as needed, according to grant RFPs and/or grant rules and requirements.
Report on grant monies received to the Development Committee, Board of Directors, Executive Director, as needed.
Manage, coordinate, and supervise staff in grant projects, including but not limited to government grants, foundation grants, corporate grants, and other written requests for funding.
Present at speaking engagements to market HOH programs, services, and funding needs.
Coordinate all marketing tasks and duties, including HOH’s website and social media accounts, as well as develop public presentations and educational materials.
Develop and organize fundraising and awareness events.
Produce outcome data and update fact sheets annually for the annual report.
Attend grant presentations, trainings, and other public meetings and fundraising events.
Represent HOH in the larger nonprofit and human services communities.
Keep donor lists, grant files, and all other documentation associated with fundraising, awareness, public relations, and marketing.

Qualifications, Experience & Skillset

We are looking for a passionate, knowledgeable, and caring employees who can both complete the following requirements and add to our culture of caring and understanding:

Must have at least 3 years of experience in working in a development position, preferably in the field of human services or behavioral health, including employment, volunteer, or internship hours.
Experienced leader with the ability to lead a small team of 2-3 staff and volunteers.
Enjoys planning events, attending community activities, meeting new people.
Has a talent for organization and order; efficient and creative task manager.
Can work under stressful deadlines, multi-task, and stay calm during crises.
Can organize data and has strong attention to detail and good time management.
Is an excellent communicator in person, on the phone, and in writing; proficient at spelling and grammar and comfortable with public speaking.
Most importantly, has a passion for working on a collaborative team to help women and children in need.

Agency Requirements:

Non-smoking worksite: no tobacco products allowed.
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must pass extensive post-offer, pre-employment background check and drug test.
If in recovery, must have at least 2+ years of continuous sobriety.
Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and climb stairs.
Must have own reliable transportation, current driver’s license, good driving record, and be willing to transport clients in own car and agency vehicles occasionally.
Must be able to adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
Must have a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals facing substance use and mental health challenges.

Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in a field related to development or may accept experience (one-for-one year) in lieu of degree.

Hours & Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with occasional evening or weekends for special events. This position is on-site in Salt Lake City (no remote work).

Wages/Benefits:

$70,000-$80,000 annual salary, depending on education and experience, and full-time benefits package that includes:

Health insurance (90% of base plan premium employer-paid).
Dental insurance (100% of employee base plan premium paid).
Employer-paid basic life insurance, long-term disability, and Employee Assistance Program.
30+ paid days off per year for holidays, vacation, and sick days.
401(k) dollar-for-dollar match up to 5% after 90 days of employment.
