Education: Graduation/ Post Graduations degree in social work, Rural Development, Sociology, or related field

Experience: Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in community mobilization and development projects.

Skills & Competencies required
  • Position Summary: The Development Organiser – Governance plays a key role in strengthening organizational governance structures and practices. This position supports the planning, implementation, and monitoring of governance-related initiatives, ensuring transparency, accountability, and compliance across programs and operations.


  • Required Skills

  • Experience and in-depth understanding of the rural governance institutions and processes. Experience of working with Panchayats and government line departments is a must for this position.

  • In depth understanding of women’s self-help groups, micro-finance, and women empowerment related aspects.

  • In depth understanding of monitoring, evaluations, and reporting functions particularly in development sector programmes

  • Basic understanding of community health programs particularly focused on nutrition

  • Good training skills

  • Good communications skills including writing skills

  • Willingness to travel in remote areas

  • Willingness to liaison with government, banks, donors etc.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse rural/tribal communities.

  • Good communication skills (local language proficiency is essential).

  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Office, data entry, documentation).


  • Desirable:

  • 2–3 years of experience in community mobilization, institution building, or livelihood promotion.

  • Prior work experience with SHGs, Cooperatives, Producer Groups, or other community institutions.

  • Familiarity with participatory tools (PRA, social mapping, focus group discussions, vision planning).

  • Good facilitation, training, and leadership development skills.

  • Strong documentation, report writing, and case story development skills in English/local language.

  • Experience in coordinating with government departments and local governance systems (Panchayati Raj Institutions, line departments).

  • Ability to handle field data collection, MIS, and basic monitoring & evaluation tools.

  • Willingness to travel and stay in rural/tribal areas as per project needs.


  • Preferred Attributes:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Rural Management, or allied field.

  • Experience in working with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Cooperatives, or Farmer Producer Organizations.

  • Skills in participatory tools (PRA, FGDs, Social Mapping, etc.).

  • Documentation and report writing skills in English/local language.

  • Ability to facilitate training and capacity building sessions.

  • Exposure to working with government programs and schemes.

  • Passionate, self-motivated, and willing to travel extensively in rural/tribal areas.

  • Must have own vehicle.

Job Profile
  • This is a senior management position. Selected candidate is expected to lead AKRSP(I)’s programs on community-based Organisations, rural governance, community health, and women self-help groups.

  • Leading a multi-state team engaged in rural governance and community collectives’ program of the organization. It requires intensive capacity building of PRIs, activating gram sabhas and facilitating entitlements for the poorest.

  • Leading and establishing a program on community health and nutrition.

  • Promoting large scale livelihood activities among SHG members using savings or bank credit.

  • Leading the expansion of programs for the poorest households across all geographies.

  • Preparing and operationalizing strategy for inclusive programs across all verticals of the organization.

  • Preparing and operationalizing strategy for large scale leverage of resources from flagship government schemes such as MGNREGA, NRLM etc.

  • Liaison with donor agencies, SRLMs, government agencies, and other related agencies for fund mobilization and policy related partnerships.

  • Capacity building of field teams on various aspects of rural governance, community collectives and inclusiveness.

  • Preparing regular progress reports along with regular evaluation of major projects related to rural governance and community collectives.
