About ZERK
ZERK is a technology venture dedicated to pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and AI-powered computer vision analytics. We specialize in high-reliability hardware for defense, security, and industrial sectors.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between complex software and rugged field performance. From "drone-in-a-box" solutions to continuous aerial surveillance and risk analysis for the industry, we build the brains and the power behind the next generation of autonomous flight.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a
DevOps Engineer
to build and scale the "nervous system" that powers our autonomous platforms. In this role, you won’t just manage web servers—you will build the infrastructure that allows our drones to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates, process massive computer vision datasets in the cloud, and maintain 100% uptime for critical security missions.
You will be the bridge between our AI, Embedded, and Software teams, ensuring that our deployment pipelines are as rugged and reliable as our hardware.
This Role Is Ideal For Someone Who
-
You are a chronic automator.
If a task needs to be done twice, you’ve already started writing a script to automate it.
-
You understand the "Edge."
You realize that deploying to a drone in the field is different from deploying to a standard cloud region.
-
You value reliability above all else.
In our world, a deployment failure doesn't just mean a broken link—it means a drone doesn't take off.
-
You are a problem solver.
You enjoy the challenge of managing high-bandwidth video data, low-latency communications, and secure cloud-to-edge synchronization.
-
You take ownership.
You want to design the architecture today that will support a fleet of thousands of autonomous systems tomorrow.
What You Will Build
As the core of ZERK’s infrastructure team, you will design and maintain the systems that keep our autonomous ecosystem running:
-
Hybrid Cloud/Edge Infrastructure:
Scalable environments to support AI model training and real-time drone telemetry.
-
OTA (Over-the-Air) Update Pipelines:
Secure and resilient systems to push firmware and software updates to drones and docking stations in the field.
-
CI/CD for Robotics:
Automated testing and deployment pipelines that integrate with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing environments.
-
Data Pipelines:
Infrastructure to handle, store, and process massive amounts of video and sensor data for our computer vision analytics.
-
Observability & Monitoring:
Real-time dashboards to monitor the health of our global fleet and docking infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
-
Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Architect and manage our cloud resources (AWS/GCP/Azure) using
Terraform
or
Pulumi
.
-
Container Orchestration:
Deploy and manage microservices using
Docker
and
Kubernetes
at scale.
-
Pipeline Development:
Design and optimize CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) for software, firmware, and AI models.
-
Security & Compliance:
Implement DevSecOps practices, including encryption for data-at-rest/motion and secure identity management for edge devices.
-
Linux Systems Administration:
Optimize and secure the OS environments running on our edge compute modules.
-
Collaboration:
Partner with AI and Embedded engineers to streamline the developer experience and reduce "time-to-field."
-
Disaster Recovery:
Establish robust backup, recovery, and failover protocols for mission-critical operations.
Requirements & Qualifications
-
Experience:
3+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related systems role.
-
Cloud Mastery:
Strong proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (
AWS
preferred).
-
Containerization:
Deep knowledge of
Docker
and
Kubernetes
(EKS/GKE).
-
Scripting:
Strong coding skills in
Python
,
Go
, or
Bash
for automation.
-
IaC Skills:
Hands-on experience with
Terraform
or
Ansible
.
-
Autonomy:
Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced startup environment with high ownership.
Bonus Points For
-
Experience with
IoT
or
Edge computing
(managing remote devices over cellular/satellite links).
-
Familiarity with
ROS / ROS2
(Robot Operating System) or drone communication protocols (MAVLink).
-
Knowledge of
Cybersecurity
frameworks relevant to defense or industrial sectors.
-
Experience setting up
ELK stack
,
Prometheus
, or
Grafana
for large-scale monitoring.
