Diagnostic Imaging Coordinator (RMA)

Position Overview:

Under the supervision and direction of the Nurse Manager or Designee, the Diagnostic Imaging Coordinator is knowledgeable and skilled at effectively communicating with patients the importance of receiving their diagnostic imaging order while assisting with scheduling, requesting prior authorizations, and tracking the order until results become available. The goal is to ensure that needed diagnostic imaging orders are performed, prior authorizations are requested in a timely manner, and results are tracked and flagged and brought to the attention of the clinician.

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with Providers, Nursing staff, Patients, and outside Organizations to ensure the process of diagnostic imaging is complete and results are tracked and brought to the attention of the clinician.
  • Perform all duties consistent with Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and Meaningful Use (MU) Team guidelines, assignment, and training; evidence-based guidelines in clinical practice and population management activities utilizing certified EHR systems.
  • Perform other related assigned duties and responsibilities, in accordance with the employee's job description and ECFH Code of Ethics Policy.
  • Provide support in overall clinical operations by acknowledging, adhering to, and implementing overall organization and medical policies and operating procedures of El Centro Family Health.
  • Effectively communicate with patients the importance of completing their diagnostic imaging order.
  • Manage the diagnostic imaging workflow by requesting prior authorizations, tracking orders to completion, and attaching results to the patient record.
  • Flag abnormal diagnostic imaging results and bring them to the attention of the clinician.
  • Maintain clinical standards by always maintaining a professional and positive demeanor, being a key member of the health care team, commitment to quality of care and organizational support.
  • Maintain records by observing and recording changes, progress, reactions, and treatments of assigned patients; suggests possible alterations and additions to the patient's treatment plan; transcribes verbal or written providers' orders after verifying with providers.
  • Maintain staff development by assisting the Associate Director of Nursing in the orientation and preceptor ship of nursing personnel regarding correct procedures related to diagnostic imaging and resulting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum two (2) years of nurse aide experience preferably in a

community primary care, hospital, or clinic setting.

  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS).

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to balance, bend, lift, carry, and pull up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, typically longer than four hours.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, or as needed.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to use hands and fingers for feeling, grasping, and operating office equipment.
  • Adequate hearing ability for communication and monitoring office environments.
  • Good vision for reading documents, operating office equipment, and observing surroundings.
  • Capability to stoop, crouch, crawl, or kneel as necessary for office tasks.
  • Ability to talk clearly and effectively for communication.
  • Ability to walk and move around the office environment.
  • This position involves possible exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious materials.
