Die Polisher

Summary

The Die Polisher is responsible for the detailing of dies and their surfaces that extrude or draw out metal materials into hoses, bars, tubes rods, wires, or structures.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• • Polishes and resurfaces bores and cavities of dies to specified size and angles, using hand laps or various die polishing machines, tools, and cutting pastes:
  • Inspects worn dies to ascertain extent of wear, using steel gauge pins, and calipers.
  • Inspects die for cracks and smoothness of finish.
  • May resurface and clean dies, using powered drill, grinder, or files and other hand tools.
  • Be able to read die prints to better understand the exposed surface of the die.
• Other tasks and assignments assigned by your Manager.

Education and Experience

• A high school Diploma or equivalent required

• Prior experience in welding, machining or die polishing preferred

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must be physically able to lift or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment. Safety glasses, ear plugs, and safety shoes are required in facilities.

• Work environment is subject to extreme environmental temperatures and significant noise exposure.
