1. Diesel Engine Service Engineer
Job Location: Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District
· Performs maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of diesel engines and auxiliary equipment in various settings, including workshops and field locations. Key duties involve inspecting machinery, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, and executing repairs or overhauls to ensure optimal equipment performance. The role requires technical expertise in diesel systems, strong problem-solving skills, and effective communication with clients and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine maintenance, scheduled inspections, and preventative checks on diesel engines and associated equipment.
Diagnose malfunctioning equipment using systematic approaches and diagnostic tools, identifying the root cause of mechanical, electrical, and operational problems.
Perform necessary repairs, replacing faulty parts, and conducting complete engine overhauls and rebuilding of components like turbochargers and fuel pumps.
Perform on-site servicing, installation, and emergency repairs at client facilities, which may involve travel to diverse locations.
Prepare detailed service reports, technical documentation, and service records, ensuring accuracy and clear communication of job status and findings.
Provide technical guidance, explanations of defects, and advice on future maintenance to customers.
Work with other departments and coordinate with internal teams on allocated jobs to ensure completion according to schedule and scope.
Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, regulations, and company protocols.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Educational & Experience Requirements
A high school diploma or GED is the minimum, with vocational training from a diesel technology program providing valuable skills and exposure to industry tools and technology.
Experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance, and sometimes mechanical experience, is often required. Experience in specific sectors, like marine or transportation, may also be preferred.
2. Diesel Engine Service Technician
inspects, maintains, and repairs diesel engines and related systems in vehicles and heavy equipment, performing diagnostics, repairs, and routine maintenance. Key duties include using diagnostic tools to identify issues, replacing faulty parts, documenting work, ensuring safety, and communicating with customers about necessary repairs and maintenance. The role requires technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to continuous learning as diesel technology advances.
Key Responsibilities
Utilizing diagnostic tools and computer software to pinpoint mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and their components.
Performing routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, and tire rotations to keep equipment running smoothly.
Repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other mechanical components.
Documenting all maintenance and repair work in detail for future reference and to maintain client records.
Explaining technical issues to vehicle owners in understandable terms and discussing the work performed.
Adhering to safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards to ensure a safe working environment.
Working effectively with other technicians and service managers to complete projects efficiently.
Conducting test drives and other performance checks to confirm that repairs are successful and the equipment is operating correctly.
