Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Diesel Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Responsibilities
- Perform detailed diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components of heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and farm machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, brake repairs, and alignment adjustments to maximize equipment lifespan.
- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals and schematics to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools and welding techniques to ensure proper fit and function.
- Operate heavy machinery safely during repair procedures or testing phases to verify repairs and system performance.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports of all repairs performed for compliance and future reference.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering technical guidance when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair in a dealership or industrial setting.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and electrical diagnostics.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly of heavy machinery components.
- Ability to interpret schematics and OEM manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex issues.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and vehicle maintenance procedures.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and farm machinery.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to air brake systems, tire service, alignment procedures, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid certification or training in automotive diagnostics or heavy equipment service is preferred; dealership experience is highly valued. Pay: $32.00 - $36.00 per hour
