Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and HVAC components.
- Conduct routine maintenance including oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments to maximize equipment lifespan.
- Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and electronic diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues accurately.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs.
- Repair and maintain heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and tractor-trailers to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety standards.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during testing phases or when moving machinery for repairs; demonstrate strong knowledge of heavy lifting procedures.
- Maintain detailed service records and logs of all repairs performed; communicate effectively with team members regarding maintenance status or issues.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across automotive diagnostics, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, suspension components, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals; familiarity with automotive repair software is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other fabrication tools required for repairs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically capable of working in demanding environments for extended periods.
- Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or similar industrial equipment; knowledge of safety protocols is essential.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally.
- Certification in diesel engine repair or automotive repair is preferred; additional certifications related to air brake systems or hydraulics are advantageous. Pay: $30.00 - $36.13 per hour
