Job Summary
We’re looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Assistant Mechanic to join our team. You’ll work directly under a senior mechanic, assisting with maintenance and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment including trucks, vans, generators, excavators, and construction equipment.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work and wants to grow their mechanical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with repairs and maintenance on trucks, vans, and heavy equipment
- Perform basic service tasks (oil changes, filters, inspections, etc.)
- Help diagnose mechanical issues under supervision
- Work on small engines, generators, and construction equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized shop
- Follow safety procedures and instructions from senior mechanic
- Move and prepare equipment as needed
Requirements:
- Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (automotive, small engines, etc.)
- Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
- Basic knowledge of tools and shop equipment
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a shop/outdoor environment
- Valid driver’s license preferred
Preferred (Not Required):
- Experience with diesel engines or heavy equipment
- Familiarity with hydraulics or electrical systems

- We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of diesel-powered equipment and vehicles, including heavy machinery, trucks, and industrial equipment. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet and machinery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery while utilizing your mechanical knowledge and hands-on skills to keep operations running smoothly.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues accurately.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment including transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, and electrical systems.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using power tools, welding, soldering, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
- Service and repair various machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other farm or industrial equipment.
- Inspect vehicles and equipment regularly to ensure compliance with safety standards; perform alignments and brake repairs as needed.
- Maintain detailed service records, complete shift reports, and document all repairs performed for accountability and future reference.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks and perform tire service or wheel alignments to ensure equipment safety and efficiency.
Skills
- Proven dealership or heavy equipment experience with a strong understanding of OEM parts and schematics.
- Extensive mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, suspension systems, and HVAC components.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, assembly, and the use of power tools for custom repairs or modifications.
- Hands-on experience with excavator operation, crane maintenance, forklift servicing, tractor-trailer repair, and farm machinery upkeep.
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics combined with electrical troubleshooting skills for complex system repairs.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; familiarity with service technician procedures is highly desirable.
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills to explain repairs clearly to clients or team members.
- Capable of heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during maintenance tasks; familiarity with tire service is a plus.
