Diesel Mechanic – Road Construction

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake checks, to ensure optimal performance of diesel engines and associated equipment

Conduct thorough inspections of heavy equipment, identifying and addressing any issues or defects that may impact performance or safety

Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical problems with industrial equipment, including engines, hydraulic systems, and air brakes

Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, sharing knowledge and best practices to improve overall efficiency

Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repairs, including parts used and labor hours, to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of work completed

Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards

Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Qualifications

Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, with a focus on heavy equipment and diesel engines required

Familiarity with hydraulic systems and air brakes

Experience working in road construction environments preferred

Physical stamina to perform demanding tasks in a fast-paced outdoor environment

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with strong attention to detail

Reliable transportation to job sites

Ability to lift heavy materials and perform physically demanding work
