Diesel Mechanic

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Diesel Mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of machinery used across various industrial, agricultural, and transportation sectors. Duties

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance procedures including oil changes, tire services, brake repairs, and system inspections to prevent breakdowns.
• Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to accurately troubleshoot issues.
• Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and fabrication tools to ensure proper fit and function.
• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during repair or testing processes.
• Conduct alignment procedures to maintain vehicle stability and safety standards.
• Repair or replace electrical components using diagnostic tools; perform automotive diagnostics to identify issues accurately.
• Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery parts during repairs or upgrades.
• Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle or piece of equipment serviced.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards during all repair activities.
• Support customer service efforts by communicating repair status clearly and providing recommendations for ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

• Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines; dealership experience is highly preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and vehicle systems.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals; familiarity with OEM specifications.
• Skilled in fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; capable of working with power tools and hand tools effectively.
• Experience with automotive diagnostics software and electrical troubleshooting methods.
• Knowledge of transmissions, air brake systems, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, and tire services.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working in physically demanding environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail.
• Good communication skills for effective customer interaction and team collaboration.
• Valid certifications related to diesel engine repair or heavy equipment maintenance are advantageous.
