Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy-duty diesel equipment and machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, experience with heavy and industrial equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. This role offers an opportunity to work with diverse machinery including farm equipment, construction vehicles, and industrial machinery in a dynamic environment.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on diesel engines and related systems across various equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs using schematics and electrical knowledge
- Operate power tools, hand tools, and welding equipment to complete repairs efficiently
- Maintain and service HVAC systems on equipment as needed
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints for proper repair procedures
- Perform heavy lifting and assist in the assembly or disassembly of machinery components
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure safety standards are met and equipment is operating optimally
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols during all maintenance activities
Skills
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment, automotive repair, or industrial machinery
- Dealership experience is a plus, especially with Caterpillar or other major brands
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic tools
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and schematics interpretation
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, or other industrial machinery
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in a physically demanding environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues
- Knowledge of HVAC systems related to industrial equipment is desirable
- Good customer service skills for interacting with clients or team members as needed
