Diesel Mechanic - Heavy Equipment Experience REQUIRED

Earnest Contracting is seeking an EXPERIENCED Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to join our team. We have over 60 years of experience in road construction, and we are looking for a mechanic who takes pride in keeping equipment running strong and crews productive.

This position will work both in the shop and in the field, servicing and repairing heavy-duty road construction equipment including backhoes, track hoes, dozers, rollers, loaders, dump trucks, and paving equipment. Experience with asphalt and road paving equipment is a huge plus.

What You’ll Do

• Drive to job sites to inspect and repair equipment
• Diagnose mechanical issues using computerized diagnostic tools
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service
• Repair diesel engines and heavy equipment components
• Replace faulty parts and adjust equipment for proper performance
• Service machine attachments (blades, winches, side booms, etc.)
• Perform major repairs when necessary
• Communicate equipment issues to the Shop Manager
• Work alongside other mechanics as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Previous Heavy Equipment Mechanic experience REQUIRED
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) REQUIRED
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines and heavy construction equipment
• Experience with computerized diagnostic systems
• Ability to lift heavy components and work in shop and outdoor environments
• Ability to troubleshoot independently in the field
• High school diploma or GED
• Certification as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferred (not required)
• Ability to work Monday–Friday and Saturdays when required
• Willingness to work 50–60 hours per week (typical average 55+)
