Description:
The Diesel Portfolio Manager position acts as a liaison between APG Business units, Purchasing, and our Brands/Vendors responsible for Brand/Vendor performance (growth and profitability) for the organization.
Main Key Responsibilities:

Build and maintain the brand consistent across all channels and communication between US and international based business

Conduct product line analysis with vendors to include: managing line add/subtract to optimize sales and inventory requirements, product line trends (Rev and Profitability) and reasons, developing and executing a product line strategy (good, better, best, private label, partnership, exclusive relationships, etc.), and acting as “point of contact” for vendors as far as movement and new line development

Execute negotiation and persuasive skills relating to negotiating with vendors for improved pricing, payment terms, and use of co-op marketing funds

Acting as a trusted advisor on product and line decisions

Hold vendors accountable to APG requirements/policies

Assist marketing with ideas to promote products to drive sales while also coordinating SPIFF with vendors and Sales to ensure we don’t overlap and are providing consistent messaging

Collaborate with marketing department to devise a marketing strategy for the brand to create a positive image and awareness of the products and oversee promotion planning and execution, advertising campaigns, and sponsorships

Review current product portfolio to identify product/brand opportunities to include holes in the offering and replication of options (key brands, fitments, categories, price points, etc.)

Review brand performance within APG and how our performance ranks compared to competitor brands

Develop content to recommend inventory for dealers and movements

Participate and develop plan for industry trade shows (AWDA / PWA)

In collaboration with Direct to Consumer and Wholesale, create demand forecasts for added items along with initial locations to stock product; work with Brand Company and other Exclusive Distributors to maintain good relationships and inventory flow

Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent required

Bachelor’s degree plus 3-5 years of work-related experience (preferred) or a combination of 5-7 years of education and experience including specialized sales training.

Professional sales skills with a customer-oriented attitude and a strong desire to go above and beyond to meet the needs of our customers

Strong needs assessment skills with ability to identify sales opportunities via recognizing customer’s business objectives, pricing requirements, and other needs

Experience with analyzing, understanding, creating, and communicating business or product strategy
-
Ability to negotiate with vendors while overcoming stalls and objections
-
Ability to exercise sound judgement, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
-
Ability to meet required deadlines and production expectations
Work Environment:

This position operates in a professional office environment with frequent use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers.

Work is generally performed in a climate-controlled setting and may involve virtual meetings and collaboration across time zones.

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

The pace of work can be fast, especially when managing multiple brands, deadlines, and cross-functional communications.

The role may include occasional travel (less than 10%) for vendor meetings, trade shows, or collaboration with other business units.
