Diesel Shop Mechanic

Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and energetic Diesel Shop Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty diesel-powered equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and other heavy equipment components using schematics and automotive diagnostics tools.
• Conduct repairs and maintenance on tractor-trailers and other heavy-duty vehicles.
• Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to meet specific repair requirements.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems including HVAC controls, air brake systems, electrical wiring, and sensors to identify issues accurately.
• Complete inspections such as tire services, shocks & struts replacement, brake repairs, and service adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
• Maintain detailed service records documenting repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
• Adhere to safety protocols during all repair activities while demonstrating excellent customer service skills when interacting with team members.

Requirements

• Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair.
• Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, HVAC systems, suspension components, and electrical wiring.
• Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering; familiarity with assembly processes is a plus.
• Ability to operate heavy machinery safely including tractor-trailers.
• Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions; willingness to perform tire services and perform welding tasks as needed.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation; capable of working independently or as part of a team. J

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
