Diesel Mechanic / Large Truck Technician

We are looking for an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Large Truck Technician to join our fleet maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing our company-owned fleet of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, values safety, and is dependable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain Class 7 & 8 diesel trucks.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections.
  • Troubleshoot engine, electrical, air brake, suspension, steering, hydraulic, and drivetrain systems.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, and suspension components.
  • Perform diagnostic testing using OEM and aftermarket diagnostic software.
  • Complete brake, wheel-end, suspension, and steering repairs.
  • Inspect equipment to ensure safe operation and DOT compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Documentation is an essential part of this position.

Mechanics are expected to complete work orders, inspection sheets, DOT paperwork, and labor documentation accurately and legibly.

Quality repairs must be supported by complete documentation.

Technicians are expected to:

  • Complete work orders thoroughly and accurately.
  • Document diagnostics, repairs performed, and parts used.
  • Record labor hours accurately.
  • Complete inspection reports and DOT paperwork.
  • Submit warranty documentation when applicable.
  • Maintain clear, legible, and professional repair documentation.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of diesel/heavy truck repair experience preferred.
  • Experience with Mack, International, Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, or similar heavy-duty trucks.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with air brake systems.
  • Computer literacy for operating diagnostic software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • CDL is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, crouch, climb, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and lift heavy components.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain if approved by the company).
  • Valid DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (Medical Card).
  • Valid driver's license.

Tools Required

Technicians are required to provide and maintain their own basic set of hand tools necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.

The company provides specialty tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop-owned equipment required for specific repairs and procedures.
