Job Summary:

The Hospital Dietitian is responsible for assessing, planning, and managing the nutritional needs of hospitalized patients, tailoring diets to their medical conditions, and collaborating with healthcare teams to promote overall patient well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Nutritional Assessment:

  • Conduct assessments of patients’ nutritional status through interviews, reviewing medical history, laboratory data, and physical assessments.
  • Develop personalized nutrition care plans based on individual health conditions, preferences, and treatment goals

Dietary Counseling:

  • Provide counseling to patients and families about nutrition-related aspects of illness, treatment, and recovery.
  • Educate patients on managing conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or gastrointestinal disorders through dietary changes.

Meal Planning & Recommendations:

  • Work with food service teams to create or recommend tailored meal plans that align with prescribed medical treatments and dietary restrictions.
  • Ensure that meals meet the patient’s needs, including calorie, protein, fluid, and other nutrient requirements.

Collaboration with Healthcare Team:

  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition care into the patient’s overall treatment plan.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, providing nutrition insights and recommendations.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Regularly monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to dietary plans as necessary based on changes in medical condition or patient needs.
  • Track clinical outcomes and assist in improving nutritional management in patients with complex health issues.

Education and Training:

  • Provide education and training to hospital staff (nurses, medical students, etc.) on the importance of nutrition in health and disease.
  • Stay updated on new research and evidence-based practices in clinical nutrition.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including nutritional assessments, care plans, and progress notes, in compliance with hospital policies and legal regulations.

Quality Improvement:

  • Contribute to hospital nutrition programs, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and promote overall patient health outcomes.
  • Participate in hospital initiatives aimed at improving patient care, including audits and surveys.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹16,000.00 per month
