Job Description
Tennessee State University College of Agriculture invites applications for the position of Digital Communications & Web Specialist.
The Digital Communications & Web Specialist plays a central role in shaping the Tennessee State
University TSUAg of Agriculture’s (TSUAg) online presence and brand identity, along with supporting TSUAg’s broader communications strategy by contributing content for social media, newsletters, photography, and video storytelling.

This position is responsible for creating, updating, and managing the TSU.Ag website to ensure it
remains accurate, engaging, user-friendly, and reflective of the College’s mission.
This role blends technical expertise with creativity, making it ideal for a communications
professional who thrives in both digital and multimedia environments.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Website Management
o Oversee the design, functionality, and daily updates of the TSUAg website, ensuring accurate,
accessible, and engaging content.
o Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to keep web pages current and aligned with
TSUAg priorities.
o Monitor site performance, analytics, and SEO to improve visibility and user experience.
o Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and University brand/style guidelines.

Content Creation & Communications
o Write and edit web, social, and newsletter content tailored to target audiences.
o Capture and edit photography and video to highlight TSUAg events, faculty research, and student success stories.
o Assist with press releases, features, and marketing collateral as needed.

Social Media & Digital Engagement
o Support TSUAg social media accounts with engaging posts, campaigns, and multimedia.
o Monitor analytics and audience trends to refine strategies and grow engagement.

Collaboration & Support
o Serve as a communications resource to faculty and staff, helping translate academic programs and events into compelling digital stories.
o Provide basic training and support to TSUAg units contributing to the website or communications platforms.
o Coordinate with University communications and IT units to ensure consistency across platforms.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with event coverage through live posting, photography, or video.
  • Maintain a digital asset library (photos, graphics, video clips, and templates).
  • Perform other communications-related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, web design, English, journalism, or a related
field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Demonstrated experience managing websites and using content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Omni Cl\lS).
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience with photography, videography, and multimedia editing tools (e.g., Adobe Creative
Suite, Canva, Final Cut, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms, strategies, and analytics.
  • Familiarity with SEO, accessibility, and web best practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse
teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in higher education communications or a related environment.
  • Knowledge of front-end web design and basic web design principles.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools (Google Analytics, email platforms, scheduling
software).
