Digital & Communications Contractor (Part-Time, 1099)
We’re looking for a smart, hungry digital & communications contractor to support high-profile advocacy and political work in New York. This is a part-time, 1099 role working directly with a senior political strategist on campaigns involving Medicaid, aging, climate/energy, and other major public-policy issues.
This role is ideal for someone who is a strong writer, works quickly, and is comfortable turning strategy into clean copy, social content, and simple graphics.
What you’ll do:
- Draft social media posts across platforms (X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
- Write and edit email copy, talking points, one-pagers, and short memos
- Support rapid-response communications as news breaks
- Draft press statements, advisories, and quotes as needed
- Package content into clean, usable formats
- Create straightforward social graphics using Canva or similar tools
- Coordinate with the team on deadlines, approvals, and content flow
What we’re looking for:
- 2–6 years of experience in digital, communications, or campaign work (agency, nonprofit, advocacy, or political)
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Comfortable working on multiple projects at once
- Organized, responsive, and able to handle fast turnarounds
- Familiarity with social platforms and digital best practices
- Basic design skills (Canva or similar) are a plus
- NYC-area candidates strongly preferred
Role details:
- Part-time, 1099 contractor
- Approximately 10–25 hours per week (flexible based on workflow)
- Remote work, with preference for NYC-based candidates
- Compensation based on experience
