We’re looking for a Digital Composition Operator to join our team! In this role, you’ll create and prepare print-ready book files using industry-standard software while ensuring accuracy, quality, and customer specifications are met.

Duties

• Utilize Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Adobe Acrobat to assemble and format book pages
• Implement text and graphic corrections based on customer requests and specifications
• Ensure files are print-ready, including proper bleed, margins, and color settings
• Search for and match fonts when needed to maintain document consistency
• Organize and manage digital files following required naming conventions
• Communicate with customers to clarify requirements and ensure accuracy
• Update internal systems (AS/400 and databases) with job and billing information
• Document chargeable changes and complete billing entries for finished jobs
• Ensure InDesign files meet RHML compliance standards (styles, threading, anchored graphics, etc.)
• Follow layout specifications and complete layout documentation forms

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience with Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Adobe Acrobat
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow layout specifications
• Basic knowledge of print production and prepress requirements
• Ability to troubleshoot formatting and font issues
• Strong organizational and file management skills
• Effective communication skills for customer interaction
• Experience working with databases or production tracking systems preferred
