Who We’re Looking For
We are not looking for someone who wants to “try” social media. We are looking for someone who wants to build a career in it. This 6-month internship is designed for serious, reliable, and creatively sharp individuals who are ready to grow inside a real-time digital media environment. We are building future Content Creators, Social Media Managers, and Digital Strategists — not short-term contributors. If you stay level-headed under pressure, love lifestyle and pop culture, can spot a trend before it peaks, are comfortable creating content and being on camera, preferably live in the Chicago area, can attend select events to capture content, love digital storytelling, are organized, dependable, and communicative, are highly skilled in Canva, and want long-term growth potential — then keep reading. If you disappear after week two, this is not the place.

The Role
This is a 6-month, (un)paid internship designed for academic credit and/or professional development. The role is remote with a structured schedule aligned with real-time publishing needs. Interns must be available during core working hours: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST, Monday – Friday (required availability). Daily assignments are distributed at the start of the shift and must be completed by end of day. Interns curate and publish 3–7 posts per day using trending topics, repurposed editorial content, YouTube clips, pop culture moments, and lifestyle features. You will work alongside senior leadership and receive feedback to strengthen your strategy, tone, and execution.

Responsibilities
Curate and draft engaging, platform-specific social posts; write sharp, scroll-stopping captions aligned with our editorial voice; identify and source trending entertainment and lifestyle content; create Canva graphics using templates and assist with short-form video edits; create on-camera content (Reels, TikToks, short-form videos) as part of the content mix; repurpose articles into high-performing social content; organize and prepare content for scheduling; capture social content at select Chicago-based events (when applicable); pitch original content ideas to increase engagement and visibility; participate in weekly mandatory Monday team meetings.

Requirements
Minimum 1 year experience in social media, content creation, or digital marketing; advanced Canva proficiency (non-negotiable); strong writing skills and understanding of platform voice; knowledge of entertainment, pop culture, and lifestyle media; comfortable being on camera and creating video content featuring yourself; ability to meet deadlines consistently; strong communication skills; highly organized and responsive; able to commit to the full 6-month term; availability during 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST (Monday–Friday) is required. Preference will be given to candidates in the Chicago area who can occasionally attend events.

Growth Path
This internship is structured as a pipeline. High-performing interns may be considered for paid freelance roles, extended contracts, leadership track opportunities within social media, and expansion into editorial writing or brand marketing initiatives. We invest in people who invest in the work.
