Digital Content Manager

Job Summary:

The EcoTarium seeks a skilled and detailed-oriented team player as a Digital Content Manager. This position will be responsible for creating and implementing a complete digital marketing strategy in order to strengthen the EcoTarium’s brand, increase visitor engagement, broaden the museum’s audience base, and improve marketing and sales efforts in line with EcoTarium programming and strategic priorities. The Digital Content Manager will create consistent, meaningful content on the EcoTarium website and all digital and social media platforms, as well as respond to online customer concerns or comments in a time-sensitive and professional manner.

The position reports to the Chief Advancement Officer and will work closely with the PR & Marketing Manager, other members of the Advancement Team, and other EcoTarium Staff Members. The Digital Content Manager will also serve as the point person for interfacing with the company that hosts our website (currently Blackbaud) and will actively work with digital marketing agencies or contractors that we hire for various projects.

The position’s primary duties involve non-manual work directly related to marketing of the EcoTarium via digital channels. These duties include the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Content Collection and Management (10%):

  • Drive the collection of content across the organization in a timely manner. Manage and improve tools which enable input and collection of content from lead EcoTarium staff.
  • Create and manage a rich content editorial calendar.
  • Create designs and high-quality, shareable, and unique content which will create a consistent message across platforms.

Website Management (30%):

  • Maintain and update the institutional website to increase museum visitation and philanthropic support.
  • Serve as point person for the relationship with the company which hosts the EcoTarium website (currently Blackbaud).
  • Ensure the website is operational and work with the hosting company to solve any issues in an expeditious manner.
  • Keep website current - removing old content in a timely manner.
  • Working in WordPress, create new, engaging webpages and modify existing webpages in keeping with plans outlined in Annual Work Plan, through the Marketing Request Form, and in response to other business needs and requests.
  • Coordinate, curate, capture, and design website, graphics, video, and photo assets.
  • Collaborate with the hosting company on website optimization and SEO.

Social Media and E-Marketing (30%):

  • Coordinate and collaborate across multiple departments to create a holistic social persona.
  • Manage all social media sites and utilize new social media outlets that are conducive to the museum’s growth as they arise.
  • Build, deploy, and monitor all social campaigns, both organic and paid.
  • Collaborate with designated marketing agencies on paid search campaigns and keyword research.
  • Curate content for monthly newsletters and periodic e-blasts, create communications in the email system (Get Response), and maintain all distribution lists in coordination with Advancement team members.

Photography and Video Creation (10%):

  • Serve as the organization's photographer, capturing key moments in the EcoTarium’s life - including daily activities and programs, exhibits, exhibit openings, special events, special moments with key members of the organization, political dignitaries and others.
  • Build, manage and oversee the database of photo and video assets.
  • Create videos and slide shows as appropriate and necessary for the website, social media and Museum events

Monitoring and Reporting (10%):

  • Build and manage all reporting activities including campaign performance and ROI analysis.
  • Monitor all channels on a daily basis for comments and questions and interact with the online customer base in response to questions, comments, and/or concerns.
  • Manage all comments and requests from customers online. Collaborate appropriately with colleagues to answer specific department-related inquiries.

Other Duties (10%):

  • Manage the content and upload to digital marketing stations located at Museum entryways.
  • Handle design and edits as needed for printed materials in coordination with the Advancement team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in planning, designing, writing and managing social media networks, websites, electronic communications, and other online media
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building an online network and relationships with a virtual constituency
  • Proficiency with the following:
  • Social (Hootsuite, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, FB, etc.);
  • Digital (Eloqua, CMS, WordPress, UberFlip, Constant Contact, Mail Chimp, Google Analytics);
  • Design (Photoshop, Canva, Adobe, InDesign, Illustrator, After Effects, Prezi, PowerPoint);
  • Video editing (IMovie, Final Cut Pro or the like); Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office
  • Nonprofit experience preferable
  • Management/oversight experience – ability to effectively motivate and manage others, including vendors and consultants

Education and Other Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree - B.A. or B.S., or equivalent experience
  • Must be able to attend off-site functions and event
  • Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends per business need
  • Must pass CORI and SORI background check according to EcoTarium’s guidelines
  • Participate actively in all-staff community meetings, daily huddles, and staff trainings
  • Contribute to a professional and motivational work environment by encouraging teamwork, collaborating with colleagues and providing positive reinforcement to team members when a job is well done.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
