GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:

The Digital Content and Social Media Specialist is responsible for creating high-quality digital content that supports the College’s marketing, recruitment, and public engagement goals. The primary focus of this role is content creation, including video, photography, and social‑ready storytelling developed in close collaboration with academic programs, Student Services, and other campus partners.


This position serves as a key content‑creation resource for the marketing team, providing original, on‑location visuals and short‑form content that is distributed through social media and other digital channels. The role supports the marketing plan developed by the Director of Marketing and Communications by assisting with website operations, paid advertising, or enrollment campaigns.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Capture and produce video, photography, and social media content that highlights academic programs, workforce training, student experiences, faculty expertise, and campus life.
  • Work directly with academic programs and departments to plan, schedule, and execute content creation that aligns with the marketing plan.
  • Create short‑form video and visual content optimized for social media platforms, including captions and accessibility elements where appropriate.
  • Maintain an organized digital asset library to support consistent branding and future content needs.
  • Publish organic social media content following established strategy and calendars developed in collaboration with the marketing department.
  • Support storytelling initiatives by translating program and institutional priorities into engaging social content.
  • Monitor basic engagement trends (reach and interactions) to inform future content creation, in coordination with marketing leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure content aligns with institutional campaigns, brand standards, and messaging.
  • Provide content assets to support website updates, email campaigns, public relations efforts, and paid advertising.
  • Assist with coverage of major campus events, milestones, and community engagements through visual and social media content.
  • Coordinate logistics for on‑location content creation, including travel to campuses, partner sites, clinical locations, and community events.
  • Stay informed on emerging content and social media trends relevant to higher education and workforce development.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the goals of the College and the Office of Marketing and Communications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong writing, storytelling, and visual content creation skills.
  • Proficient in photography, video capture, and video editing for digital platforms.
  • Experience creating content for social media channels, with an understanding of platform‑specific best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively engage with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Creative mindset with a strong interest in digital storytelling and brand consistency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field, and at least 1-3 years of experience in social media, content creation, or digital communications. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be acceptable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Conditions are those of a typical office environment, requiring frequent oral communication with students and colleagues, the ability to enter data and written communications in electronic format in a timely manner, and sufficient mobility to be present and address students, their parents, and fellow professionals at appropriate college and regional functions.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of objects up to 15 pounds; standing, sitting and/or walking for brief to long periods.
  • Will require occasional travel to perform duties or educational purposes.
