Digital Content Specialist/Developer
The United Federation of Teachers is seeking an energetic, self-motivated digital content producer and creator who is committed to public education and the labor movement to work as part of the union’s digital communications team. About the UFT
With nearly 200,000 members in total, the United Federation of Teachers is a powerful advocate for public education and working families in New York City. We represent some 110,00 public school teachers, paraprofessionals and other school staff who dedicate their lives to the city's children. Private sector nurses, administrative law judges and family childcare providers also belong to our union. Our work covers a broad range of categories, including: member education and information; uplifting member voice and stories; and running full-scale campaigns across local, state and national levels to advocate for causes that are important to our union.
Responsibilities:
● Write, copy-edit, design and send event invitations, information updates and newsletters in Salesforce Marketing Cloud to targeted lists of UFT members
● Create and track online registration forms and member surveys, ensuring UFT’s messaging and style standards.
● Design and maintain email templates.
● Work with UFT staff to update the union’s website
● Serve as a communications liaison for UFT’s borough offices, departments and chapters
● Write and schedule text message alerts to targeted lists of UFT members
● Other communications tasks as assigned by the department director
Qualifications:
● Hands-on experience in designing and developing templates and building digital marketing campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or an equivalent platform
● Strong writer with superior editing skills
● A demonstrated ease with CRMs and member management tools and an eagerness to learn new software and use it to promote the union’s mission
● Ability to create clear and compelling email messages and newsletters, sometimes working with the drafts by staff from other departments
● Strong organizational skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy;
● Strong interpersonal skills since the job involves managing the needs of staff across many departments
● Ability to work effectively under deadline and juggle assignments
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of the digital communications team
● Knowledge of or interest in education policy and the labor movement
● Must be available to work “on call” on some evenings and weekends to send out urgent emails
Additional skills that would be a plus:
● Proficient knowledge of HTML/CSS; familiarity with AMPscript a plus.
● Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Adobe InDesign and/or Photoshop, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and website content management systems
Experience/Education
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
