Digital Creative & Marketing Specialist

WHO WE ARE

Backyard Studios is a digital marketing agency that actually moves. We build websites, run paid campaigns, develop brands, and help clients grow online. We are not the kind of agency that meetings things to death. We build things, design things, and figure it out as we go.

Right now we have more work than we can handle and a team that is hungry to grow. Our team is already deep into AI-assisted workflows and new tools, and we are looking for a person who is already living that way too. If you are the type of person who sees a new tool and immediately wants to break it open and figure out what it can do for you, keep reading.

THE HONEST VERSION

We are behind on projects. We are over budget on timelines. We need someone who can come in, get up to speed fast, and help us knock out a backlog without sacrificing quality. This is not a "settle in for six months" kind of role.

We are a hard-working, fast-moving team and the work is genuinely interesting. But we are not going to sugarcoat it - there is a real workload here and you need to be the kind of person who finds that energizing, not exhausting.

WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO

  • Build and update websites in Webflow (primarily) and WordPress when needed. No coding from scratch required, but you need to know what clean, well-structured work looks like.
  • Design the assets - social graphics, ad creatives, landing page layouts, email headers, brand materials. You are not handing this off to someone else. You are doing it.
  • Run and manage paid campaigns on Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google Ads. You do not need to be a media buyer with a decade of experience, but you need a real working knowledge of how these platforms function.
  • Develop and execute marketing initiatives across multiple client accounts. Strategy is part of the job, not just execution.
  • Use AI tools as a daily part of your workflow to move faster and produce better work. We are not interested in what AI can do for you in theory. We want to see what it is already doing for you in practice.
  • Problem-solve independently. When you hit a wall, you find a way through. You do not wait to be told what to do next.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

  • A real design background. You can open Figma or Adobe and produce something that looks intentional, professional, and on-brand. Your portfolio should show this clearly.
  • Webflow experience, or a demonstrated ability to pick it up fast. If you have not used it yet, you should already be curious about it.
  • Hands-on experience with Meta Ads and Google Ads.
  • You understand targeting, creative testing, and basic performance metrics.
  • Active, daily use of AI tools in your current or recent work. This is not a "I have tried ChatGPT" box to check. It should be part of how you actually operate.
  • A portfolio or examples of real work - websites you built, campaigns you ran, graphics you designed, results you drove.
  • Self-direction. You do not need someone standing over your shoulder telling you what the next step is.

THIS IS AN IN-OFFICE POSITION

This is not remote. This is not hybrid. This is not "mostly in-office with flexibility."

We work together in person, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. That is the job. If you want to come in early or stay late to get things done, we love that. But the expectation is that you are here, present, and engaged during business hours.

We have had to be very clear about this because we have learned the hard way: collaboration, momentum, and the kind of fast-paced work we do does not happen over Slack from someone's couch.

If you are looking for a remote position, we genuinely wish you well - this is just not it.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU AS AN EMPLOYEE

We should not have to say this, but recent experience tells us we do.

Show up on time. Every day. If something comes up, communicate ahead of time like a professional - not five minutes after you were supposed to be at your desk.

When you are here, be here. Your personal life, your phone, your errands, and your outside priorities do not belong in the middle of the workday. We all have lives outside of work and we respect that. What we ask is that you respect the boundary in the other direction too.

Be reliable. If you say you will have something done, have it done. If you are running into a problem, say something early - not after a deadline has passed.

Take ownership. If something is not working, bring a solution, not just a complaint. We are a small team and everyone's output matters directly.

We are not looking for perfection. We are looking for someone who takes their job seriously, respects the people they work with, and shows up ready to work every single day.

THIS IS PROBABLY NOT FOR YOU IF...

  • You think "AI-assisted" means dumping a prompt into a tool and calling the output done
  • You are waiting for your industry to tell you where things are headed before you start learning.
  • You need a lot of process and hand-holding to get started on something new.
  • Design and marketing feel like two completely separate skill sets to you.
  • You are looking for a slow-growth environment with a light workload.
  • You treat call-outs, late arrivals, or early departures as a normal part of your routine.
  • You expect flexibility on the in-office requirement.
  • You have a hard time keeping your personal life from spilling into your work hours.
  • You need to be reminded of deadlines or chased down for status updates.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A genuinely fun, small-team environment where your work is visible and your impact is real.
  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • A team that is already bought in on growth - you will not be fighting uphill to use new tools.
  • Interesting clients across a variety of industries.
  • Room to grow quickly if you perform.

HOW TO APPLY

Send your resume, a brief note about what AI tools you are using right now and how, and a link to your portfolio or examples of recent work.

No portfolio, no consideration. We need to see what you can actually make.
