Organization Overview

Progress Iowa is a multi-issue progressive advocacy organization. Year-round, we promote progressive ideas and causes with creative earned media strategies, targeted email campaigns, and cutting-edge new media. Our organization serves as Iowa’s progressive communications hub. We operate as a center for innovative research, data-driven messaging, training, and communication strategies for the progressive community and its elected allies in order to shift the narrative around good governance and reshape what is possible by advocating for progressive policies.

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled digital fellow to join our communications team and advance our digital organizing program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong political knowledge, content creation expertise, and the ability to develop compelling social media posts based on progressive messaging. The fellowship offers an opportunity to contribute to movement-building work while gaining hands-on experience in digital strategy and grassroots communications. This is a part-time fellowship position funded for until Nov. 3, 2026.

Duties Will Include:

• Design and produce 8–10 high-quality digital graphics weekly to support field organizers.
• Develop persuasive social media copy that aligns with campaign goals and drives engagement for content creators.
• Help manage content distribution workflows through digital organizing platforms, ensuring timely delivery of materials to partners.
• Edit and enhance volunteer-submitted video content, including adding subtitles using video editing software.
• Collaborate with communications staff on content planning to maximize organizer engagement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with digital channels and active usage of the platforms.
• Proficiency in Canva and video editing software, and the ability to create digital graphics.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented, ensuring high-quality work and accuracy in content.
• A team player with a positive attitude!
• Passion for social justice, worker’s rights, healthier communities and an economy that prioritizes working families.

Compensation: The weekly pay for the digital fellowship is $1,000/month. The position is based in Iowa, but fellows will be encouraged to work remotely. This fellowship will run until Nov. 3, 2026.
