Digital Imaging Illustrator (Histology Laboratory)

Position Summary:
The function of the Digital Pathology Illustrator is to provide digital pathology graphics and illustrations, image management system support to current clients. This support includes assessing client needs and requests for 2D and 3D graphics and illustrations, creating 2D or 3D images and animations using graphics, illustration, and modeling software, capturing whole slide images, managing whole slide images and related metadata in the image management system, performing and verifying content entry in content management systems, and assisting in maintaining whole slide image capture equipment. The Digital Pathology Illustrator will also administer databases, gather information for client reports, and assist in assuring quality and completeness when image projects enter or leave the facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Conduct research to determine graphics or illustration details and to produce images, graphics, and illustrations according to publication requirements (formatting, resolution, etc.) as directed by clients

· Create simple and complex images, graphics, animations, and illustrations for posters, presentations, publications, and marketing materials

· Create 2D and 3D images, graphics, animations, and illustrations using animation, illustration, graphics, and modeling programs

· Retrieve still or whole slide images or existing graphics/illustrations for client requests

· Assist with project creation and completion procedures

· Assist the Supervisor in assuring the quality and completeness of items requested by clients

Position Requirements:

· B.A./B.S. Degree in Biology or related biological sciences or equivalent, plus 3-5 years relevant experience

· Proficiency in graphics, illustration, and 2D/3D modeling software & Microsoft Office Suite

· (mainly Excel & Word)

· Knowledge of scientific, histologic, and medical terminology

· Research skills to determine graphics or illustration details and to produce images, graphics, and illustrations according to publication requirements (formatting, resolution, etc.)

· Ability to pay close attention to details

· Work effectively alone or as a member of a team

· Understand and follow written and verbal instructions

· Communicate effectively verbally and in writing

· Possess knowledge of the image management system, whole slide scanners, and their functions

· Possess knowledge of content management data entry and verification

· Ability to adapt to changing procedures, priorities, and tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
