Summer 2026 Marketing and Communications Internship Program

Internship Dates: June 1 through Aug. 7, 2026

Better Business Bureau® of Michigan is seeking four motivated, creative and organized interns to support major summer marketing initiatives, events, digital communications and operational projects. Interns will gain hands-on experience working alongside a collaborative marketing and communications team while contributing to high-visibility projects tied to business education, artificial intelligence programming, community outreach and brand growth.

These internships are designed to provide meaningful professional experience, portfolio-building opportunities and ownership of real projects that impact the organization.

Internship Details

  • Schedule: Approximately 15 hours per week
  • In-office days: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
  • Hours: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Compensation: $18.50 per hour
  • Location: In person at the BBB® of Michigan office in Grand Rapids or Southfield

Interns may occasionally support events or projects outside standard office hours with advance notice.

Position Summary

The Digital Marketing and Creative Content Intern supports BBB® of Michigan’s online presence across web, email and social platforms. This role helps create, organize and optimize content while supporting campaigns tied to events, education programs and brand awareness initiatives.

This internship is ideal for someone interested in digital marketing, content strategy, social media, creative communications or brand storytelling.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist with social media scheduling, content creation and platform management
  • Draft captions, short-form content and campaign messaging for multiple platforms
  • Support website content updates and page maintenance
  • Help organize and maintain creative assets and campaign materials
  • Assist with formatting and preparing email marketing campaigns
  • Support content repurposing across social, web and email channels
  • Help collect, organize and manage photography and video assets, including assisting with the planning, filming and organization of testimonial video content featuring consumers and Accredited Businesses that share their experiences with BBB of Michigan
  • Assist with basic performance reporting and content tracking
  • Support creation of branded graphics and promotional materials
  • Monitor social platforms for engagement opportunities and content needs

Summer Project Focus

This intern will help modernize and strengthen BBB® of Michigan’s digital presence.

Projects may include:

  • Assisting with a refresh of social media platforms and content organization
  • Helping improve YouTube branding, playlists, thumbnails and channel structure
  • Auditing and updating outdated website content
  • Creating reusable content templates for future campaigns
  • Helping organize video content for educational and promotional use
  • Help build a library of testimonial and storytelling content for future marketing, social media, website and promotional use
  • Assist with identifying strong consumer and Accredited Business stories that support trust, credibility and community impact messaging
  • Supporting AEO/SEO-friendly content updates and blog formatting
  • Assisting with AI-related content experimentation and campaign support

Additional Opportunities

  • Attend events to capture social media content and behind-the-scenes coverage
  • Help support promotional campaigns for the Blaze AI Summit and business education initiatives
  • Contribute creative ideas for audience engagement and community reach
  • Build portfolio-ready marketing and content examples

Preferred Qualifications

  • Interest in digital marketing, communications or content creation
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content trends
  • Basic understanding of Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools preferred
  • Interest in video, photography or visual storytelling is a plus
  • Creative thinker with strong attention to detail
