Digital Marketing Specialist (SEO, PPC, Social)

About the Role

J&R Marketing is looking for a Digital Marketing Specialist to strengthen and support our growing client portfolio.

We are actively refining and improving our retainers, reporting structure, and digital services. This role will play a key part in helping us elevate how we deliver and communicate performance.

You may be deeply experienced in one area of digital marketing or have broad experience across multiple disciplines. We’re open to different strengths. What matters most is that you understand digital strategy at a real, hands-on level, think analytically, and can clearly explain what you’re doing and why.

This role can start as contract, part-time, or full-time depending on experience and fit. We are open to building the position around the right person.

Areas of Strength (You Don’t Need All of These)

You should have strong, hands-on experience in at least one and working knowledge of others:

  • SEO (technical, on-page, content strategy, analytics)
  • Pay-Per-Click (Google Ads, Meta Ads, campaign structure, optimization)
  • Social media ads (Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube or similar paid platforms)
  • Social media strategy (building content pillars, audience targeting, post frequency, growth strategy, engagement planning)
  • Analytics and performance tracking
  • Campaign reporting and performance analysis

You might be:

  • An SEO strategist who understands search deeply and can guide execution
  • A paid ads expert who has managed budgets and optimized campaigns
  • A social media strategist who has built and grown accounts intentionally
  • A digital generalist who has run full-funnel campaigns across channels

We are not looking for someone with no hands-on experience. We are looking for someone who has actually run campaigns, analyzed data, and improved results.

What This Role Will Help Us Do

The right person will help us:

  • Strengthen and refine our digital retainers
  • Improve how we present data and performance to clients
  • Train and guide our Account Management team
  • Interpret updates and industry changes

For example:

  • If Google releases an algorithm update, you can break it down and explain what matters
  • If a platform changes ad structure or targeting rules, you can translate that internally
  • If something impacts our clients, you can help guide blog content, newsletters, or updates to communicate it clearly

This is not just about running campaigns.
It’s about understanding digital at a high level and helping others understand it too.

Responsibilities May Include

Depending on your strengths:

  • Building and optimizing SEO strategies
  • Managing and scaling paid ad campaigns
  • Overseeing social performance strategy
  • Reviewing and guiding work from internal or overseas support teams
  • Creating or improving reporting structures
  • Training Account Managers on digital concepts and updates
  • Supporting client calls when deeper technical insight is needed
  • Assisting Project Managers on digital initiatives
  • Supporting website updates and optimization (WordPress-based)
  • Testing websites for performance, usability, SEO alignment, and conversion flow
  • Acting as backup support for website-related tasks when needed
  • Collaborating with our web team (developer-level coding is not required)
  • Helping document and improve internal systems as we scale

Structure & Location

  • Contract, part-time, or full-time (based on fit)
  • Primarily in-office at our Smithfield, RI location
  • Not a fully remote role

Compensation will be based on experience and structure.

Growth Potential

For the right person, this role can evolve into a leadership position within digital strategy as we continue to grow and refine our services.
