The Joliet Public Library’s Digital Media Studio, located at the downtown Ottawa Street building, is in need of a creative, skilled, and customer service oriented person to run day-to-day operations. The DMS and its adjacent spaces include a common area, an Art Studio, a Collaboration Room, a Recording Studio, and a Green Screen Room. The chosen Manager will provide leadership to a crew of hard working associates and contribute to their ongoing development. Reporting to the Deputy Director and coordinating with other Managers, the ideal team player has a couple of years of supervisory experience in a public setting to go with their knowledge of graphic design, photography, video and audio editing, and printing in a variety of formats including poster, T-shirt, and three dimensional.
The Manager of the Digital Media Studio is responsible for mentoring and evaluating staff, implementing policies and procedures, and leading one-on-one sessions and group classes with the public. They will be a key member of the Library’s Leadership Team. The Manager will assist in the production and publication of training videos for staff. They will prioritize patron needs by fostering a positive, empathetic, and community inspired attitude in a busy makerspace. Partnering with local civic organizations in order to bridge the digital divide in Joliet is also fundamental to this position. Spanish speaking skills are a definite plus. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours a week position, and it requires a combination of daytime, evening, and, on occasion, weekend shifts.
The minimum education requirement for the position is a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Candidates must have a true interest and measurable ability in applied digital media technology. Proven supervisory skills are also important. Experience connecting with community agencies is strongly preferred. Fluency in the Spanish language is highly desirable.
Compensation
The starting annual salary is $74,100.00, with limited consideration for additional qualifications and experiences. The Joliet Public Library offers a generous benefit package including paid holidays and time-off, health insurance, tuition reimbursement, and participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

Work is performed in a public library setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer.
