At R.E.F.U.G.E. (Resource Environment for Underprivileged Groups Enterprise), we provide a safe, structured, and empowering environment for at-risk youth ages 6–17. As a Level 11 Mental Health Residential Facility, we focus on healing, growth, and preparing youth to thrive in their communities.

We’re looking for compassionate, driven individuals to join our team as Direct Care Counselors—the heart of our mission. If you’re passionate about helping young people overcome challenges and build brighter futures, we want to hear from you!

What You’ll Do

• Be a steady, supportive presence for youth in care
• Respond to crises with empathy and professionalism
• Build trust and model positive behavior
• Support daily routines, hygiene, meals, and chores
• Implement treatment plans and behavior strategies
• Facilitate engaging therapeutic and recreational activities
• Collaborate with clinical and residential staff
• Transport youth to appointments and outings
• Promote trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)
• Degree in social work, psychology, or related field (preferred)
• Experience in residential or therapeutic settings (preferred)

Skills & Traits

• Strong communication and teamwork
• Calm, confident crisis response
• Compassionate, patient, and resilient
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Passionate about youth empowerment

Certifications & Requirements

• CPR/First Aid (required or willing to obtain)
• TCI or similar (preferred or willing to obtain)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening
• Flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, holidays)
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs and perform active duties
