This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities! CCAR Industries is hiring two full-time (40 hour per week) Direct Support Personnel (DSPs) in our Residential Program.
Schedule:
- 3 pm - Midnight on Sunday through Thursday (Two days per week will be shortened with a later arrival time or earlier departure time to equal a 40-hour week.)
Responsibilities:
- The staff member will assist a small group of 2 - 6 residents to help them in their agency-owned homes and in the community. Common tasks may include helping with personal hygiene, house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, and going on community trips to restaurants and other locations in agency-provided vehicles.
- The staff member will provide companionship and emotional support to the residents.
- The staff member will monitor the individual's general safety, health and well-being, consulting with agency nursing and case management staff as concerns arise.
- The staff member will actively seek and respond to input from the residents in regard to their preferences and needs.
- They will make brief, daily notes on each resident's progress.
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver's license that is free of restrictions.
- GED or high school diploma.
- Must pass a criminal background check, as required by the Healthcare Worker Background Check Act (225 ILCS 46), and a DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect background check
- Availability to work one shift during two out of three holiday seasons: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.
- Must successfully complete 120 hours of paid training, unless they are already DSP certified.
Earning Potential:
- This position starts at $17.75 per hour as staff members receive 120 hours of paid training to prepare them for their job duties.
- Once all training is complete, the wage will increase to $18.25 per hour.
Pay Schedule:
- Every two weeks with direct deposit available upon request
