Direct Support Professional

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence. Your contributions will help enhance the quality of life for residents in our care, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need.

Requirements:

• Must have a reliable vehicle
• Valid driver’s license required
• Able to transport clients to and from community activities

Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Providing patient care and monitoring vital signs to ensure the well-being of residents.
• Supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in community integration and social activities.
• Implementing care plans tailored to each resident's needs and preferences.
• Administering medication as prescribed and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
• Engaging in patient observation to identify changes in behavior or health status.
• Assisting with cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and hygienic living environment.
• Utilizing equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe patient transfers when necessary.
• Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance residents' mental well-being.
• Respite pay rate may vary based on case

Experience
Ideal candidates will possess:

• Experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes.
• Knowledge of caregiving practices including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and memory care techniques.
• Skills in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs.
• Familiarity with home health services and hospice care practices.
• A background in social work or nursing is a plus, along with certifications in First Aid and CPR.
