The Direct Support Professional provides care for the residents of the household to meet their daily needs and enable them to function at the highest possible level. They promote the residents' psychosocial well-being through meaningful relationship building and works with the household team to meet other needs of the residents and of the household.
Essential Job Functions:

assist individuals to meet needs and develop an effective support relationship.

provide person-centered support recognizing the rights of each individual and help them to live the life they choose.

collaborate with families and support team members to help provide the best opportunities.

support individuals with basic housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, washing dishes, laundry, and tidying.

help plan appointments and organize individuals’ schedules.
-
support the administration of medications as identified and if appropriately trained.

assist individuals to shop for groceries, plan weekly meals, prepare meals and clean up after meal.

support individuals to budget and shop for items they need and/or want.

help individuals arrange and participate in social, recreational, and other community activities based on their preferences and choices.

complete successfully mandatory and other training opportunities, responsible for attending annual refresher/re-certification courses prior to certification expiration dates.

safeguard program participants’ safety and wellbeing at all times.

be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

interact with program participants in an empathetic, respectful, and caring manner.

ensure completion of required documentation and compliance with regulations and standards.

ensure individual’s rights and choices are respected per the principles of Dignity of Risk.

perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
