Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing behavior, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy
- Maintain a safe environment through regular cleaning, sanitation, and organization of living spaces and common areas
- Support clients during community outings or activities to foster social engagement and independence
- Document care activities accurately in accordance with agency policies and state regulations
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, and HIPAA compliance are required; additional training in dementia or Alzheimer's care is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks associated with caregiving responsibilities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia, or other special needs
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends or holidays as needed
