About Us
Hallmark Family Services provides person‑centered support to adults with developmental disabilities. We partner with South Central Regional Center (SCLARC) and Harbor Regional Center (HRC) to help individuals build independence, access community resources, and achieve meaningful life goals.
Position Summary
The Direct Support Professional supports adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. DSPs train individuals in building daily living skills, accessing resources, attending appointments, and working towards their personal goals. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, organized, compassionate, reliable and want to make a real impact.
Minimum Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED
· 2 - 3 years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
· Ability to read and write in English
· Valid CA driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance
· Ability to pass DOJ/FBI background check
· Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., walk, bend, squat, and perform physical tasks
· Professional communication and documentation skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
· Bilingual English/Spanish
· Experience working with SCLARC, HRC, or other Regional Centers
· Experience supporting adults in independent living or community‑based programs
· Ability to work extended shifts when needed
· CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
· Strong time‑management and organizational skills
· Experience with goal‑setting, IPP support, or community integration
· Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, psychology, social work, human development, or a related field is required if lacking 2 - 3 years of experience
What You’ll Do
· Support/train individuals in daily living skills such as time management, budgeting, personal organization, social skills/communication, employment readiness, emotional regulation and other daily living skills
· Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and community programs
· Assist with job applications, housing searches, rental paperwork, and Section 8 applications
· Promote independence, self‑advocacy, and community integration
· Complete clear, accurate, and timely documentation
· Attend meetings related to the individual’s progress
· Redirect or de‑escalate challenging behaviors using approved techniques
· Serve as a positive role model and mentor
· Maintain professionalism at all times
· Perform other duties as assigned
