Direct Support Professional

Duties

• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary
• Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams
• Administer medications and follow care plans in accordance with HIPAA regulations and safety protocols
• Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards are maintained
• Support residents during recreational activities, social outings, and community involvement to promote engagement and independence
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in living areas and common spaces
• Document care activities accurately in resident records while respecting confidentiality and privacy standards

Experience

• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism is advantageous
• Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are a plus
• Experience with patient monitoring tools, Hoyer lifts, or other mobility aids is beneficial
• Demonstrated ability to work compassionately with seniors or individuals requiring long-term care support
• Familiarity with care planning processes, medication management, and safety protocols for vulnerable populations
• Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist residents safely
