Augusta Care Services is seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support children and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD/DD) in a residential setting.

This position is ideal for college students pursuing careers in psychology, nursing, social work, education, behavioral health, human services, pre-med, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or criminal justice.

As a DSP, you will help create a safe, structured, and supportive environment where children can build independence, confidence, and life skills. This is more than a caregiving job — it is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and make a lasting impact in the lives of children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist children with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Encourage independence, positive behaviors, and healthy routines
  • Support participation in recreational activities, community outings, and life skills development
  • Monitor and document behaviors, health concerns, and daily progress
  • Assist with medication administration in accordance with care plans and company policies
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment
  • Utilize trauma-informed care and positive behavior support strategies
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and families
  • Follow all safety procedures, HIPAA standards, and individualized support plans
  • Provide mentorship, encouragement, and emotional support to children and adolescents

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable attitude
  • Ability to safely assist with physical support needs when required
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts as needed

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
