Direct Support Professional

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Guardian prefers a male to work with the individual. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care, assistance with daily activities, and emotional support to residents in various care settings. Your dedication will help foster a safe, respectful, and engaging environment where each individual can thrive. Duties

  • Assist resident with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and assist with obtaining a job.
  • Prepare resident with creating a resume, learning job interview skills, and learning conduct mock interviews.
  • Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
  • Support individual with social activities, community outings, and engagement opportunities to foster social well-being.
  • Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA standards and facility policies, including notes on patient care, progress, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with care team and family members to develop and implement personalized care plans that meet the resident’s unique needs.
  • Provide specialized care for individuals with moderate intellectual disabilities or other developmental disabilities, including memory care strategies and behavioral support.

Experience

  • Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient observation techniques and vital signs monitoring.
  • Experience assisting individuals in attaining employment
  • Hands-on experience in home & community care environments is advantageous.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training are a plus.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.

Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
