Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide exceptional care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, or age-related conditions. Responsibilities

• Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
• Monitor residents’ health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly.
• Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans developed by healthcare professionals.
• Prepare nutritious meals, assist with cooking, and ensure proper hygiene and cleanliness in living spaces to promote a safe environment.
• Engage residents in social activities, recreational programs, and community outings to foster socialization and independence.
• Maintain detailed documentation of care provided, resident progress, and incident reports while respecting privacy standards.
• Follow safety protocols including first aid procedures, CPR certification requirements, and emergency response plans to ensure resident safety at all times.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have DSP 1 and preferably DSP 2.
• Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), autism support, hospice care, and working with individuals with disabilities.
• Certifications such as CPR, first aid, HIPAA compliance training preferred or required upon hire.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility equipment like Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs as needed.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and engaging effectively with residents.
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of others through caregiving.
• Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or overnight hours as needed.
